Acoustic Performance Engineer, Salary between £36-£45K based Gloucestershire
Qualifications and experience needed by applicants
Education should be to degree standard or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
Background in acoustic analysis preferably related to noise generated by rotating machinery.
Ability to assess problems in high-pressure environments whilst maintaining engineering integrity.
Self-motivated, working from own initiative.
Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Literate with Microsoft Office tools, Excel / Word / Project / Powerpoint / Outlook.
Able to make a difference, enthusiast of change.
Can-do attitude with experience of working on own initiative within a changing environment.
Self-motivated.
Target driven, capable of taking ownership ensuring deadlines are met.
Strong influencing skills with the proven ability to influence peers, and Managers, in engineering related matters.
Commitment to high standards of excellence.
Prepared to work offsite for short periods of time when required to meet project needs.
Aerospace experience is highly desirable.

Role Summary/Purpose : Work as a lead engineer within a team of engineers at Dowty Propellers reporting to the Engineering Manager. The role will involve the analysis of propeller acoustics & development of acoustic methods whilst meeting customer requirements, quality, timescale and cost. Projects will include new applications through to in-service product support.
Essential Responsibilities : Working as a flexible member within Engineering to achieve overall team goals & objectives.
Working as part of the team developing fully optimised propeller solutions whilst ensuring integrity of the product as the highest priority.
Using existing near-field & far-field noise prediction methods to design new propellers that meet specified customer requirements.
Developing noise prediction methods to improve accuracy and extend their range of application.
Support on-going continuous improvement initiatives including the development of design processes.
Acting as the Dowty Propellers technical focal point on acoustics with customers & the Airworthiness Authorities.
Supporting work on propeller aerodynamic design & analysis when required.
